ADA-Compliant Shower Systems & Shower Heads

Under CPC 408.5 & 408.6, shower systems must comply with ADA guidelines for accessibility. Shower spray controls must:
- It features an on/off control and a maximum water temperature of 120°F (49°C).
- Use a pressure-balancing valve or tempering valve to regulate temperature.
- Include a 59" stainless steel hose with a handheld shower.
- Be operable with one hand, requiring no more than 5 pounds of force.

Water Efficiency & Flow Rates
- CPC 408.2: Single showerheads must not exceed 1.7 GPM at 80 psi (CalGreen 4.303.1.3.1).
- Multiple showerheads controlled by a single valve must also comply (CalGreen 4.303.1.3.2).
Control Valves
- CPC 408.3: Pressure balancing, thermostatic, or combination mixing valves must be used to prevent scalding, limiting temperature to 120°F max at the point of use.
